Since Jew Jacob from Lebanon opened a coffee shop for people who like new things in Oxford in 1650,coffee started to wrap around Britain like black flood.Before coffee occurred,the British were excessive drinking and dispirited.But this phenomenon altered after coffee invaded Britain,coffee shops were popular in Britain,lost of British were fascinated by coffee’s magical efficacy.

However,not all British love coffee especially women,the strongest attack to coffee shops was from women because they couldn’t freely enter the coffee shop as the women in other countries in Europe.In 1662,There was a drama called Women Complain Coffee Shop appeared in London,it was printed a lot and published.This drama described a dialogue of three women,they ironized coffee was a great invention of devil,the men stayed in the coffee shops for a whole day,then collapsed on the bed and slept after home.

After the middle 17th century,more and more coffee shops were opened in London,there were about three thousand coffee shops while the population was only six million,it means that average two to three hundred people with a coffee shop,so wine industry suffered a heavy toll.In 1674,many wine makers urged women to publish The Women Petition Against Coffee.The women said after drinking coffee,men lose their manliness and became physically disable,that’s because of bad smell and rough coffee.

What’s interesting was that men responded to this petition soon,they published The Men’s Answer To The Women Petition Against Coffee,they did their best to defend coffee,they said coffee did not make them become physically disable,but made them more energetic and powerful. 

This is the funny battle of the sexes about coffee,we can know from that the different attitude of men and women in Britain three hundred years ago.But to be honest,if the coffee shops in London allowed women enter like Venice and Paris,there won’t be such a violent battle of the sexes.

Christmas is coming soon,Starbucks pushed out Christmas cup to celebration this important festival,but the design makes many people angry.

Since 1997,Starbucks pushed out iconic Christmas cup to celebrate the festival every year,the designs were closely related to the topic of Christmas,for example,there are snows,reindeer,sleigh,or Christmas tree were printed on the cup.However,this year,the design is changed,only the logo of Starbucks were printed on a simple crimson background.Yes,this is the first time Starbucks breaks the rules and removes the patterns of Christmas,they think that would be loved by people.But on the contrary,this daring change annoy many Nazarene.

I think the new Christmas cup is simple and decent,red is very festive,it seems all right.But the Nazarene were angry because they can’t stand there aren’t any Christmas elements such as Christmas tree and snows on the cup.They though that Starbucks is struggling for Christmas and insult the Nazarene.

Many people decided to resist Starbucks including some politicians,and a pastor uploaded a video to the internet to criticize Starbucks look down on Christmas,thousands of people shared and liked this video.

Why Starbucks change the design of Christmas cup?The Starbucks company said their core vale is create a sense of belonging,inclusive and diverse culture,they design the Christmas as a blank canvas and encourage customers to create their own Christmas stories,that’s why they removed the decorations that symbolize Christmas.They said they will continually serve to customers all over the world in different religions and culture background.

Starbucks is suffering from a heated criticism is cause by the change of Starbucks Christmas cup,is it necessary?I think it’s unnecessary to do so,the change is reasonable.With the development of globalization,Starbucks is spread around the world,not only they serve to Americans,or other people in Western countries who is believe in Jesus,but all people in the wold who in different religions and culture background.Those people who do not believe in Jesus accept Christian culture and even celebrate Christmas with Nazarene together,that’s an inclusion.Starbucks,as a global corporation,create a inclusive and diverse culture is a wise action.What’s more,Starbucks is the coffee chain that is famous with its wonderful coffee,what people should pay attention to is its original taste coffee and good service they provide.Serve customers is their real purpose,but not become a ambassador of Christmas.

Roasted coffee bean,is dark and round,what do you think it looks like?Some think it looks like small black stone,some think it likes animal feces, and I think it looks like a black pill.However,in the 17th century in Vienna,the Viennese regard the coffee bean as the camel feed.That’s a funny thing.

This story is about the coffee spread to Vienna.In 1683,Turkish army threatened to attack Europe,lots of garrison surrounded and were stationed outside Vienna for a long time.The count who was responsible for Vienna army urgently needed a courier to broke Turkish army to ask nearby Poland army to rescue Vienna.Georg Franz Kolschitzky,who wore Turkish soldier’s cloth to dressed as a Turkish soldier and fished the task because he had been stayed in Arab for many years,then Turks failed and ran away.

Turks leaf many things in Vienna including tents,cattle,camels,sheep,honey,rice,gold and 5 bag of strange bean.At that time,Viennese though this strange bean is the camel feed,they wanted to burn it.Georg Franz Kolschitzky felt the familiar taste and immediately stopped Viennese burning the bean continually.He shouted,”my god,that’s the coffee you guys is burning!If you don’t know what’s this,please give it to me,I can make good use of it.”Georg Franz Kolschitzky once carefully observed the way that Turks make coffee,so he knew the how to roast coffee,grinding coffee and make coffee,then he used these coffee and opened a blue bottle coffee shop in Vienna soon.At first,Georg Franz Kolschitzky made coffee as the Turks’ way,he only added a little sugar,then he improved the way in order to meet the local people’s taste,he filtered out the coffee grounds and added some milk into the coffee.

In a period of several decades after that time,coffee became the inoitantia of intellectual in Vienna,they like gathering in coffee shops to communicate and work.Coffee is popular with Viennese and more and more coffee shop were opened .
